A crowd of volunteers listens in a warehouse beside an unfinished robot frame on a test mat.

Volunteers sent parts and design files to the project workspace. Jian Sun built the first frame for Rocky, and Mara Chen checked that it met the tournament size rules.

The first assembly was too heavy. Rocky could not move fast enough in the early tests, and Aiko Tan said the battery system drained too quickly.

Omar Patel wrote the control code for walking and balance. The first software test made Rocky fall, so Lin Wei decided they had to improve stability before they added attack power.

The team chose to replace several heavy parts with lighter ones. Volunteers redesigned the joints and legs. This slowed their progress, but it made the robot easier to move.

After the redesign, Rocky could stand and take a few steps. The team believed the project could continue, and they registered Rocky for the tournament qualification round.
